Philadelphia: Riesling - 3 year old sports horse for sale

WHC, Clinic, Philadelphia

Riesling was very quick to understand the training and work with me, although she kept asking for friends. Many horses lives isolated and without a herd, but they are herd animals They need at herd. See video above.

In Philadelphia I met this super sweet and beautiful 3 years old mare.

Riesling lives in a stall most of the day, every day - besides from a few hours alone in the paddock. She was craving social interaction from the beginning to the end of the training!

I tried to fill that gap a little bit, but it can never be enough as long as she is not social with other horses. It is only by interacting and coexisting with same species that our horses can feel completely safe from the environmental threads that linger in their instinctive survival mindset.

If they are not regularly (daily!) social with other horses, they might develop anxiety and they will also lack social skills and this can affect the balance of their mental state.

Riesling was up for sale and being only 3 years old, she was just very slowly now being trained to becoming a riding horse. I was invited by the owner to tell more about the bitless training and riding - and about later riding in a cordeo. It all starts with taking the leadership from ground and Riesling was very quick to learn. The owner will continue the training we started, also because giving Riesling more skills, like being easy to ride and handle bitless or in a cordeo, will better her chances of finding a new home with an interest in horsemanship.

I meet it from time to time and in all countries, that horses lives isolated and alone. It always comes out of 'good' meaning from owners: To protect them from injuries when interacting with other horses. I will always say the same thing over and over again:

Horses needs to be social with other horses. They need to be part of a herd. It is as fundamental a need for them as food and water.
